RE: Leavenworth WA, any campgrounds close to town?

We have stayed at both (KOA & Icicle River). KOA is the closest to town and withing walking distance. Both have shuttles that run into town for October Fest. Make sure you hit the bakery and the sausage market when in town.

RE: Check list for extended trip

We have our house sitter pack everything that looks important in a envelope and send it to us Gen'l Delivery at a place we know we are going to be. There are several commercial mail forwarding services out there. Also some clubs/organizations have a mail forwarding service but many of them have gotten mixed reviews.

RE: just got home from a great trip

Sounds like a great trip. How long do you think it will take until you want to leave again? After a trip like that we are usually home about two weeks maximum and then start itching to go again.

RE: Class A Pending Purchase

Why no slides? You may find pretty quickly what a difference even 1 partial room s/o will make for your livability.

RE: BEST NATIONAL PARK?

Olympic National Park for me. Just goes to show you how it is an individual choice thing. The weather there is perfect most of the time (rain).

RE: OREGON COAST

Enjoy your trip. I do that trip about every other year and have not even begun to see everything. You might like Cape Disappointment State Park across the river from Astoria. Ft. Stevens is nice as are all the Oregon SP's. We like Cannon
Beach RV Park in the off season. Woahink RV is nice. DW loved Klamath River RV Park in No. Calif. It is a good base for the redwoods. Agree with Lauren, take your time. That is the key to enjoying that trip. Where ever you stay, make it a couple of nights to explore the area.

RE: Low ball trade-in from dealers.

It (your trade) is only worth that much if you (or the dealer) can find someone to give you that for it. Stating the obvious rv's are not moving that much as they did a year ago. Chualk it up to nervous spenders/lenders. If you have the cash you are setting the terms. Keep looking until you find someone who will take your terms.

RE: Ocean Shores to Volcano

I am a bit confused by your sequence of events. If you are going to do St. Helens first you can get you motor home to the Visitors Center at Exit 49 on I-5 no problem. Might even get it in Seaquest S.P. across the street. From there it is all toad travel. If you are heading to Ocean Shores after that, take I-5 North to Hwy 12 (Exit 88). Then in Elma take 12 west to Aberdeen and follow signs to Ocean Shores.
For the coast, take 101 all the way down to Hwy 20 in Calif. Just north of Ukiah. Then 20 over to 5 then south. It is a toss up 5 or 99 south of Sacramento. Personally I take 5 to Stockton then 99 to Bakersfield. Stay at Orange Grove in Bakersfield. Then 58 to Barstow. Watch for wind warnings on this leg. Then 15 north out of Barstow to Vegas.

RE: QUOTE FROM PROGRESSIVE $350 W/ROAD SERVICE

Now that we all own an insurance company (AIG) shouldn't we be able to cover our rv's for free?

RE: more DirectTV questions

You want to split the cable coming out of the receiver to the tv(s). The DVR will only be able to record the show you are watching unless you get it a receiver of it's own.

RE: Using clothes washer/dryer while on the road???

Had friends of ours have their's not advance past the fill cycle. They had empty gray tank but got a knock on my door when they were gone that water was running out of their coach. My wife uses ours constantly but will NEVER operate it unless parked and gray tank open.

RE: I have seen posts about parking with jacks down

I store my rig indoors with the slides out so of course I have the jacks down. I do run the slides in and jacks up at least once a month. That seems to be the useage schedule. Have had not problems at all.

RE: 2004 tiffin phaeton

IMO and it is just worth that. I agree it is a good price BUT it does seem under powered. I personally like the Cat over Cummins and have a 350 in a 36'er towing 3900#s and couldn't imagine myself any bigger or heavier w/o more hp. From what I've read the side radiator makes maintenance easier but I don't know if any cheaper. For what it is worth, take a pass and keep looking for exactly what you want. It is out there.

RE: Best Route from Tacoma,Wa to Yuma,Az

As Grey Mountain says the scenic route is the coast. Also if you are going in the dead of winter as we often do it is an option for Siskiyous. The highest elevation on I-5 is south of Medford and the weather/road can stay nasty if not closed until Redding. If you take the coast, you can cut over to I-5 on Hwy 20. Then I-5 south to Sacramento. Then it is 6 to 1 half dozen if you take I-5 or 99 to Bakersfield. Then 58 to Barstow. Watch wind warnings and heed them. 40 out of Barstow to Needles. Then south on 95. I have done both sides (Ca & Az) both have plusses and minuses. If Ca side east at Blythe on 10 to Az 95, then south. Trip goes something like this for us. Bellingham to Eugene/Coberg. Eugene/Coberg to Redding/Red Bluff. Redding/Red Bluff to Bakersfield. Bakersfield to Needles. Needles to Yuma. So you can see we do it is 4 nights. Can be done faster but why? Hope this helps. You can pm me if you would like to know where we stay enroute.
